Reporting of Research Facilities, Import, Export, etc. of LMO for Test and Research
Reporting and Permission of LMO Research Facilities
- LMO research facilities: research facilities for the use of Living Modified Organisms (LMO)
- Safety Management Level 1.2 facilities are subject to facility reporting, and Safety Management Level 3.4 facilities are subject to facility permission.
※ Safety Management Level 3.4 facilities that pose risk to the human body should obtain permission from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. - Unit of reporting: Reporting should be made on each laboratory that is separated with walls and doors.
※ Facilities (e.g. animal feeding rooms) that are separately designated and managed as special-purpose facilities can be reported by unit of zone or building.
Import Declaration, Export Notification and Reporting of Transit of LMO for Test and Research
- Prior reporting should be made to import LMO for test and research.
- Prior notification should be made to export LMO for test and research.
Approval for LMO Development and Experiment
- Approval should be obtained to conduct experiment on environmental discharge of LMO.
※ Approval: to be granted through review of the LMO Expert Review Board of the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP).
