Treatment Management Standard

Marking Rule

Persons, who intend to import LMO, should put markings with the following descriptions to LMO or the container or packaging of LMO. (Act - Article 24, Enforcement Decree - Article 24)

  • Name, type, use and characteristics of LMO
  • Attention for safe treatment of LMO
  • Name, address and phone number (in detail) of the importer and exporter of LMO
  • Facts about LMO
  • LMO for environmental discharge or not
Marking Method
  • Markings with legally required descriptions should be placed in a clearly identifiable manner, and such markings should be directly printed on containers or packaging or attached with printed sheet labels, etc..
  • LMO that is contained in multi-packaging should have markings on each container or packaging.
  • Markings should be indicated in Korean and, if needed, can be indicated in a combination or parallel with English letters and symbols.
Penalty

Persons, who fail to mark or mark false information or arbitrarily change or delete markings that include the type of LMO in violation of Article 24-1 and Article 24-2 of the LMO Act, shall face up to one year in prison or a fine of not more than 20 million KRW.

  • 1. Name, type, use and characteristics of LMO
    Name, Type, Use, for test and research
    Attention for safe treatment of LMO
    Transport of LMO by a separate transport means for isolation
    Attention for non-exposure to outsiders and the environment
    Wearing protective gear during treatment
    Prohibition on treatment except by related persons
  • 2. Name and contact of the developer or producer, importer and exporter of LMO

    Exporter, Importer

  • 3. Facts about LMO

    Genetically modified organisms that have specific genes transformed from normal organisms

  • 4. LMO for environmental discharge or not

    N/A (Use in research facilities for the purpose of test and research)
